Personal Services
Identity and Information Services

There are a large number of envisioned features to assist with the development and use of in the System to support a wide variety of Use Cases.  This is an initial cut at some of the functions that would be part of the Core System, and provided for Developers and Integrators.

Many of the features already exist in some form or another, and hopefully they can be leveraged off of. The goal is for the system to support and provide open defined interfaces, have similar look and feel, be interoperable, have some rich enhanced capabilities, and spur additional innovation in this area.

There are additional details on these areas in PowerPoint Presentations, which will be added over time.

The most fundamental part of the System is being able to identify Objects so that they can be managed, monitored, analyzed, and supported. Objects can be an individual, data, devices, services, groups, buildings, floors, rooms, devices, services, backpacks, functions, etc.

Each Object has behaviors, and in context of the System, many of these behaviors are very similar.

Identity and Information Services serve several purposes:

  • Tagging an object with one or more scanable (or monitorable) stickers, wristbands, and/or other device (Barcodes, QR codes, passive or active RFID, etc.)

  • Information about an Object with a simple scan  (public and private)

  • Monitor an Object and analyze if conditions warrant a notification or alert

  • Defining a Role and associated schedule of an Object

  • Schedule an Action for an Object

  • Be notified of an action for an Object

  • Verify the action to an object (type, schedule, who ordered it, constraints)

  • Close an Action on an Object

  • Log an action performed to an Object

  • Creating a follow-up action on an Object

  • Transfer Objects and Object Relationships

Some practical uses of this Service include:

  • Providing information about a person if they cannot communicate (e.g. an injured or disabled individual, lost child, or an inanimate object)

  • Scheduling and verifying tasks (treatment/medicine, getting up, device maintenance/calibration, scheduled Personal Service, scheduled appointment, need to take maintenance action in a room, etc.)

  • Collecting and providing information (Individual/Provider Reports of checkups, Summary Reports/Graphs on monitored activities and vitals, history on errors on a device or device type, maintenance history, etc.)

  • Electronic Fences to tell when a person or piece of equipment  has left or entered an area

Whole Healthcare covers far more than just a person’s medical issues. In the context of this System,   Personal Services include any services that a person would need, especially those that may be living alone with limited or no access outside of their residence. This covers a wide variety of services, and everyone can use them. To be able to make almost any service available to individuals and be able to use their “System’ to manage them, there need to be a number of tools and APPs available for clients, dispatchers, approvers, and actual providers. The Object Interfaces and Methods (and APPs) would be able to support existing companies and startups, and is envisioned to create new offerings, make them all more efficient, with more clients, and supply services at lower costs (including removing some of the current minimums).

Client APP

  • Search for approved  providers in area (rating and costs)

  • Setting up agreements for scheduling, service, cost, billing, payments, approvals, escalation paths (provider, approver, guardian), and any identified coverage

  • Setting up any required approval(s)

  • Select and request Services from your selected pool of providers

  • Acknowledge scheduled service

  • Events (full log of all actions taken on behalf of a request)

  • Alerts (service not acknowledged, service not performed, approval rejected, exceeded coverage, individual didn’t answer, follow-ups, etc.)

  • Verification that any requested payments for services were for scheduled and performed services

  • Rating and feedback on service

Approver APP

  • Could just be through email or txt with the request and a response with an approval or not

  • Could create an APP to provide additional information for the approval (agreements, coverage, history, add comments, forward, etc.)

Dispatch APP (can include Call Center) – This would be for an organization that wanted to provide a series of services for an individual, and be responsible for their scheduling and delivery

  • Setting up agreements for scheduling, service, cost, billing, payments, approvals, escalation paths (provider, approver, guardian), special instructions, and any identified coverage for the individual

  • Setting up agreements for scheduling, service, cost, billing, payments, approvals, escalation paths (provider, approver, guardian), special instructions, and any identified coverage for the individual providers

  • Setting up any required approval(s) and tracking coverage

  • Select and request Services from your selected pool of providers

  • Acknowledge scheduled service

  • Events (full log of all actions taken on behalf of a request)

  • Alerts (service not acknowledged, service not performed, approval rejected, exceeded coverage, individual didn’t answer, follow-ups, etc.)

Provider APP – Direct or through a Dispatcher or Call Center

  • Setting up agreements for scheduling, service, cost, billing, payments, approvals, escalation paths (provider, approver, guardian), special instructions, and any identified coverage

  • Select and request Services from your selected pool of providers

  • Acknowledge scheduled service

  • Alerts (service not acknowledged, approval rejected, exceeded coverage, etc.)

  • Any required information from Special Instructions and any issues that may need Follow-up

Notes:

  • The General System would track performance, ratings, and issues with providers

  • If there is a Guardian and/or Call Center, they can handle the scheduling, approvals, and/or payments for the individual

  • Some payments may be covered by some form of insurance or allowance by a Social Advocacy, which can be put into the approval cycle

  • Escalations can be to the individual, guardian, friend, call center, etc. depending on the escalation type

Information Services are an important aspect of Whole Healthcare so that individuals can find information needed for general living, as well as in emergencies. It is envisioned that there will be some specialized APPs (based off of existing Internet Information Services) plus some more focused information specifically targeted to the user’s needs.

Some of these overlap into other areas, but they also have Information Services content:

  • My Whole Healthcare APP – Structuring the Whole Healthcare Applications into an organized set of screens

  • Rating Services and information about Providers of Services

  • What to Expect When You Are…  Local and Online App to help individuals understand some of the health changes that they can expect as they age or develop different conditions (and what may or may not be normal or require follow up).

  • What Should I be doing when I am… Local and Online App to help individuals understand some of the personal changes that they should be looking at as they age or develop different conditions (this can include retirement, insurance, exercise, will/trust, power of attorney, etc.)

  • Where can I find… Local and Online App to help individuals find standard and emergency facilities and resources in their area (potentially flagging ones that would be covered or be in their health network)

  • Direct Lookups of common  conditions or questions

  • Interactive Diagnosis  APP – Local and Online Visual and Auditory App to help individuals identify poetical conditions they have based on input of symptoms and intelligent visual issue recognition, and recommendations on what to do (could also connect to “Emergency”, “Ask a Nurse” or “Telemedicine”)

Using Object Oriented development has strong advantages on supporting Localization and Nationalization. With well-defined interfaces, changes in the core code can be modified to adapt for any cultural or regional dependencies and “pulled in as needed”.  The text and audio are stored separately allowing the core code to remain the same, and the local user interface text and audio duplicated in another language and “pulled in as needed”. While text and audio can be directly translated by a number of online translation programs, it is envisioned, that that is used for a 1st pass, and then use native speakers to perform any final edits. Updates could be identified through dates on affected files, and/or changes within files. This could be probably be done in conjunction with universities, or partners in various regions in the world, at a low cost.

While not really part of Localization and Nationalization, it is envisioned that the System includes voice recognition in one language and supply text and/or verbal translation into another language.

Some envisioned uses of this service include:

  • Developers only needing to concentrate on developing their application in their own language, and then have it available and maintained worldwide by others

  • Moving medical and other services closer to the population by providing it in their local culture and language (less training and less reliance on being very proficient  a different language)

  • Supporting more international efforts by providing translation through language and cultural barriers

Machines talk to machines. This is a great thing. The system takes advantage of this to help reduce the workload on people, have more accurate data, and monitor and maintain themselves.

  • Collect, store, forward, and analyze data

  • Remote and direct control of devices

  • Monitor for performance and any failures/anomalies

  • Maintenance and upgrades on themselves and other machines

  • Etc.

An interesting feature of the System is called a “Legacy Gateway” which can monitor and collect data from non-compliant devices (direct or wireless connection, visual collection of data/movements, and auditable collection. This can be SW or SW/HW based depending on the required gateway interface and location of any required post processing and communication.

Machine-to-Machine  Services

There is a lot of different information collected on the objects in the System (people, devices, groups, data, etc.), that can be analyzed. Much of this information would be canned reports, but it is envisioned that users can use an APP to select types of data, time ranges for the data, and then select the type of graph or information they would like to have it presented in. There would also be data mining capabilities to support additional analysis.

  • Lack of receipt of data for a period of time (machine or network malfunction, person not moving)

  • Medical Reports (results, baselines, recommendations, instructions, etc.) for provider, individual, and doctor

  • Certain medical symptoms being reported in greater numbers in a given area, or identify individuals with certain symptoms

  • A wide variety of performance, process improvement, and metrics (response times, escalations, missed timeframes for treatments, etc.)

  • Individual, model, SW version, or date range for reported issues on devices

  • Cross correlation on information from different monitored activities and tests

  • General Public Information (accessible to the Public on a general scan of a person or other Object)

  • Personal Information (accessible to the owner of the account and their approved administrators (may be added controls and/or information if a guardian, call center, or social advocacy group is involved)

  • Monitoring/Test Data (Medical, Fitness, Security, and Control) for raw data, analysis, and reporting (for device companies, Doctors, individuals, guardians, etc.)

  • Event and Alert Monitoring (designed to be accessible by type)

  • “In Healthcare Network” Information (accessible under the “In Healthcare Network” rules)

  • “Out of Network” Information (any provided access to “Out of Network“ Healthcare groups and their rules)

  • Device Support Data (restrictions on information accessible by the individual, lease holder,  manufacturer, and support provider)

  • Personal Service Provider Data (restrictions on information accessible by the individual, approver, guardian, service provider, dispatcher)

  • Call Center Information (access for workers and supervisory staff)

  • General Data used by Analysis Groups (organizations getting generic information to analyze and trend CDC, WHO, System Improvement Processes)

  • Volunteer Data (access for information for individuals with agencies, and information between agencies)

  • Emergency Information (derived from accounts ) for Postal APP, “At Risk” APP, Volunteer APP, and Disaster/Outage Service Management (stored on the Server, Contingency Planning Servers, workers and volunteer phones/tablets)

Data is temporarily or permanently stored in a number of locations that need to be controlled or managed

  • General Monitoring, Control, and Treatment Devices

  • Control Devices (PCs, Smartphones, Tablets)

  • Individual Servers (HIPAA and non-HIPAA)

  • Cloud Servers (HIPAA and non-HIPAA)

While this may primarily be an APP for Contingency Planning/Disaster Recovery and Social Advocacy Groups it contains generic features that could be used by other groups, as well as help to leverage off planned commercial and public information Boards, to be able to have a dual use. The basic features include:

  • Tablet features to have common format display for current locally stored data for current information in normal times and emergency information when needed

  • Ability to display data based on location

  • Ability to retrieve/rebroadcast data

  • Video and sensor surveillance capture and alerts

  • Help button

  • Power management for display and broadcast/receive

  • Identification of an individual to get and receive messages

To test the interoperability of individual and groups of products and services with the System (initial deployment, product upgrades, system upgrades), the System needs to be able to create as much automated testing as possible.

This is envisioned to be part of the system functions. Most of the common interfaces and methods are provided as part of the development package, they can include a number of features to be able to test the product or service and the System. Some of these include capabilities to input standalone unit test data, create scenarios, and capture and playback data that are input into the System.  These are the same features that would be used for creating Training and Demonstration Systems.

System in a Box is providing different configurations of the System that are primarily focused toward different Use Cases. Most of the System is “Plug and Play” allowing most components to be installed and swapped out as needed. Some of the main differences in the systems are any configurations and training, which is mainly provided by the System. Individual providers of devices or services of a “System in a Box’ would only need to provide their deltas to support the different “System in a Box’ configurations that they would be a player in.

Availability and Reliability Services

The System is envisioned to be designed with Reliability and Availability Features at every level leveraging heavily on existing and emerging technologies and large volumes to make them affordable, robust, and make them virtually “invisible to end-users”. Many of the features of the System support multiple areas of Availability and Reliability and heavy reliance on existing technology, so there is some overlaps of Features to the type of Availability/Reliability that they provide.

•             End User APPs

•             Application Servers

•             System Process and Control Servers

•             Data

•             Devices

•             Network

Error Reduction

Errors have huge costs on the Medical Profession, as well as other non-medical Personal Services. Errors rob us of our health, money, time, and work satisfaction. Error Reduction is a key feature of the System to reduce errors that are common today, plus mitigate potential errors with the System’s implementation of driving down costs and increasing the capabilities and reach of Healthcare

<Read more about Error Reduction>.

<back to top>

Using volunteers is an important aspect of the System to be able to help drive down the costs of Healthcare and Whole Healthcare and help people get involved with causes and people they know that need some support. Volunteerism is already deeply entrenched in the current Healthcare and Whole Healthcare industries and it helps keep costs low.

The System expands the current capabilities of Volunteerism to help get more people involved, provide more choices, make it safer, increase their capabilities, and add tools to make it more efficient.

  • Help connect volunteers with individuals requiring support

  • Help connect volunteers connect with Organizations and Causes they are interested in

  • Help connect volunteers with groups requiring general and specific support

  • Help groups create, develop, and manage volunteer activities (companies, corporations, clubs, communities, etc.)

  • Generally help organizations get volunteers for regular and special needs

  • Expand the variety and number of Personal Services available for volunteers and individuals with needs

  • Provide Training, general instructions, online help, escalation capabilities, and specific instructions for the volunteer providing a service to an organization or individual

  • Identify and match mentors with individuals that want to learn new skills

  • Help establish Interagency coordination and support for volunteers and resources (including emergencies)

  • Provide ratings and background and/or reference checks for volunteers

  • Providing ratings and/or reference checks for individuals and organizations using volunteers

  • Provides a large number of trained individuals that can provide services during an outage or emergency

  • Could potentially support a program where individuals receiving Government or Charitable Aid, could be required to perform (and/or receive training) as part of the agreement for their benefits

  • Could potentially support school and individual intern and training programs including practical hours and commitments for certain forms of financial aid

  • Could potentially tap and more efficiently use Jail, Prison, Required Community Service individuals for supporting certain needs, and potentially receiving recommendations, training, and “good behavior” jail sentence reductions

It is envisioned that there is a “Whole Health Application Store” that can be used to help individuals find and manage their APPs. Ideally these would be powered by the existing APP Stores including the Google’s Play Store tm, Apples iStore tm, and Microsoft’s Store tm.

It is the same concept that the different Stores currently use for getting and updating free and for fee APPs, but they provide a little different format to view and find an individual’s APPs, as well as APPs that can work across their downloaded APPs. Basically a separate APP and Page/Screen that supports and focuses on APPs that are compatible (or semi compatible) with the overall System.

OAM&P/NMS Services

This topic is basically covered under the “System Features Tab Pull-down” under “Device Services”, but this section is specifically presented in this section as an abbreviated topic associated with Device (and APP) Operations, Administration, Management, and Provisioning (OAM&P) and Network Management System (NMS) Tools, and well as built in Training/Help features.

The System identifies those pieces, and it is envisioned that those functions would be developed once as an inheritable Object Interface/Methods, that can be used by anyone that is building an APP/Device. This allows them to concentrate on their specific unique Feature/Intellectual Property (IP), and inherit a rich set of non-proprietary operational features, at little cost.
