In reality, anyone with a Cellphone, Tablet, and/or PC can have Telemedicine, and it is envisioned that there would be an APP to support advance First Aid capabilities using easy to use instructions, visual/symptom databases, Adaptive Intelligent Examination Decision Trees with video and step by step instructions ( for medical and non-medical personnel), and telemedicine access to Emergency Medical Personnel if available.
The System supports “Localization”, which provides interfaces in the person’s native language, any regional differences, for the area, as well as any required patient our outside support translations. While this is an important concept and feature of the System, this section is mainly focused on advanced First Aid Kits that provide a number of additional capabilities over today’s Kits.
With Smartphones and Tablets becoming Medical Devices, and a number of current and emerging small automated single/multi-purpose wireless medical devices coming out (e.g. hand sized Tricorders), fixed or “luggable” Emergency Systems-in-a-Box have more features at lower costs, and they can have “plug and Play” devices and features added to or modified over time. They even have the potential to serve as small clinics, with additional “Plug and Play” APPs and Devices. Some models (System-in-a-Box) could be minimal and easy to carry with a Smartphone/Tablet, extra battery, “tricorder” and supplies. These could be off-line and would still support a wide variety of instructions, training, examination, and treatment capabilities, or on line and add additional telemedicine and more advanced computer guided support.
These are ideal for any place that could have large numbers of individuals, or locations that are remote that need that extra safety factor. Some sites might choose to have them stored in an airplane shippable container, while others might want to set them up integrated into a wall or room (similar to Automated External Defibrillators).
Online instructions and training are available for pre-training or access when needed. It is envisioned that users could use a tablet included in the kit, and/or sync their personal device to the kit and use it. Some potential sites include Airlines, Ships, Trains, Public Buildings, Corporate Buildings, Sporting Events, Concerts, Public Rally’s, Camping, Retreats, Fitness Centers, Remote Job Sites, Satellite Disaster Recovery and Outage Centers, Emergency Vehicles, etc.
The System provides common “Look and Feel” interfaces on Standard PCs, Smartphones, and Tablets, with online practical and simulation training, help, and instructions, with the devices supporting remote maintenance and support for easy use.
Another potential item would be Search and Rescue Robotic Devices that can be equipped with audio, camera, video for two way visual communication, light, “tricorder”, network repeater, “RF or other location technology”, Telemedicine, and visual issue recognition tools.
