The most fundamental part of the System is being able to identify Objects so that they can be managed, monitored, analyzed, and supported. Objects can be an individual, data, devices, services, groups, buildings, floors, rooms, devices, services, backpacks, functions, etc.  Each Object has behaviors and relationships, and in context of the System, many of these behaviors are very similar, and leverage off of the same Object Interfaces and Methods. With Localization capabilities of Object Oriented Programming, this can be easily rolled out worldwide directly or through partners almost simultaneously.

The System works by creating a unique QR code and/or RFID tag (stickers, wristbands, and/or other device) using standard commercial printers and programs, and then associating it with an object (person, personal belonging, room, equipment, etc.). Once the association has been made, information about that object can be stored or retrieved, from every day devices like tablets and smartphones. Data associated with an object can also be segregated only providing access to certain parts of the data to different individuals or groups via Access Control Lists. The data itself can be analyzed for thresholds, events, trends, triggers, alerts, escalations, and follow-up. These features are a main part of the overall System.

There are two sides to the Identity and Information Services. The 1st  is the “Public Side”, which provides “untrusted” identity and information that is defined and updated by the owner off the account/tag. Being “untrusted” does not mean “not valuable”.  For some individuals, the owner of the account might want to put in a lot of information in case of an emergency, while others may want to put in a bare minimum amount of information, but be able to update and provide additional information as needed, depending on the situation.  A primary and alternative display could also be setup across or on an individual sticker basis to have the necessary information available in an emergency.

The System supports optional Picture, Contact Information, Medical Alert, and Special Instructions. These stickers, wristbands, and cards can be located discreetly or indiscreetly on almost anything (belt, wallet, shoes, shirt, hat, etc.), almost guaranteeing that a person (along with their possessions) could be identified.

The “Private Side” provides “trusted” information to the agency/organization that issued it (e.g. hospital, clinic, social advocacy group, disaster recovery/relief administration, retirement center, etc.). In some cases the data would be limited within an organization, or it could be shared across different organizations or cross-organizational networks. This allows for information and actions based on this information to be trusted by the issuing (or member) organizations. This is where a lot of the future features of the System are implemented.

As previously mentioned, the System and Features within the System are modular and each has their own roadmaps. Identity and Information Services start out very modestly, and expands over time to provide new features, as well as support many of the other features of the System. This is where it starts.

Initial System Product

“Public” Identity and Information Services are the first step in rolling out the System, by creating the first deployed Product. The initial product is an international “Untrusted” Public Identity and Information System. This part of the System requires minimal standards and interfaces, low cost to implement and deploy, low risk, and creates a foothold and name recognition for the System.

The initial product is designed to provide user definable information to anyone scanning a sticker (QR code or RFID) with a standard PC/Smartphone using a free application. It can manage several individuals (and their individual possessions) from a single account, and keeps a log of all scans.

The initial product is made up of the following components:

  • Stickers and bracelets with QR Codes and/or different RFID Technologies (including potential Company or System Logo)

    • Online ordering

    • Printable/programmable with commercial devices

    • Shippable in standard shipping envelopes

  • Use of standard free smartphone QR Code and RFID scanning applications to provide information to be shared publically

  • Web and Smartphone “Owner Account” application to

    • Manage access to the account

    • Order and  manage stickers

    • Make  real-time changes to the information

    • Review data and logs

  • Database/Processing

    • Store “owner” and captured scanned data

    • Support filtering and alarms

There are many goals and features associated with the initial product rollout:

  • Establish international name recognition and interest in the Initiative

  • Create simple orderable packages that can be easily printed and shipped using standard mailing envelopes

  • Provide identification, contact  information, medical alerts, and/or special instructions about a person (or their possessions)

    • Locating lost or missing children

    • Information about individuals with severe injuries (that cannot communicate or be moved) for emergency treatment

    • Alzheimer‘s/Dementia/Developmentally Disabled Individuals that might have problems communication or remembering things

    • Providing some additional safety for individuals living or traveling alone

    • Helping to support and manage the homeless

    • Assist Public Service Workers in safely identifying and providing support for individuals

    • Peace of mind and support for families and guardians of “at risk” individuals

    • Aid in the recovery of an individual’s lost, stolen, or misplaced property

  • Identify when a person (or their possessions) has been scanned

Building off the Basics

There are a couple of fairly large slide decks that contain information about the Identity and Information Applications and Services, as well as the phased approach on implementing them Available on request). The remainder of this section summarizes some of the added capabilities, which are all subject review when the product rollout/roadmap is determined. Most of the functionality is provided through other System services and applications, but requires some support from Identification and Information Services.

  • Addition of triggers and alerts to automatically notify the account owner  (e.g. a specific tag was scanned, a person entered or left and area)

  • Expansion of the account management and monitoring of Objects from a few people to a large number of individuals (to support organizations) – Multiple administrators, common filterable event/alert logs)

  • Additional secure public/private data storage

  • Support for additional event types and monitoring

  • Additional relationships between Objects

  • Treatment Verification

  • Transfer of relationships between objects

  • Role and Schedule Based Objects

  • Public Bulletin Board
