OAM&P-NMS Services

 

This topic is basically covered under the “System Features Tab Pull-down” under “Device Services”, but this section is specifically presented in this section as an abbreviated topic associated with Device (and APP) Operations, Administration, Management, and Provisioning (OAM&P) and Network Management System (NMS) Tools, and well as built in Training/Help features.

 

This is an important aspect of the System for Developers, Trainers, Integrators, Supporters, and End-Users of the System. A large part of any Application/Device development is based on common OAM&P/NMS features that have to be developed.

 

The System identifies those pieces, and it is envisioned that those functions would be developed once as an inheritable Object Interface/Methods, that can be used by anyone that is building an APP/Device. This allows them to concentrate on their specific unique Feature/Intellectual Property (IP), and inherit a rich set of non-proprietary operational features, at little cost.

 

Most companies are good at creating the specific proprietary design and functionality associated with their product’s goals, but they are often weak in the Total Life-Cycle of the product as well as the Total-Cost-Of-Ownership. The System is envisioned to provide these features in a better and cost effective way, as well as providing for a larger domestic and international market.

 

This concept provides many different benefits:

  • Common Operations, Administration, Management, Provisioning, and Troubleshooting Features

  • Common “look and feel” across Applications and Devices

    • Less Training

    • Fewer Mistakes

    • Less End-User Frustration/More Marketable

  • Less design, development, test, and documentation requirements in developing an App/Device

  • More robust and complete OAM&P/NMS/Training/Help Features

  • Support for Localization (supporting multiple languages and cultures) for worldwide deployment and support

  • Logical links to other data and applications to combine and compare features and dataAnd many others

 

Some of the specific OAM&P/NMS/Training/Help Features include:

  • Semi-Automatic on-line Registration and Warranty (between Device/APP Company, Device/App Supporter, End-User, and any Guardian, Leaser, and/or Insurance)

  • Simple Provisioning to a user’s System, and transfer between individuals

  • Logging and (as approved) forwarding of any issues/events on the Device/App

  • Common local and on-line Help, Training, and Demo

  • Remote Login support

 

Note: The available predefined System features are not envisioned to be limited to OAM&P/NMS/Training/Help Features. As covered in the “Device Services” section, the System would also include inheritable and importable features like:

  • Base System Requirements and Design

  • Unit and System Testing Features

  • Base Documentation (Specs, User Guides, Training, Testing, Troubleshooting, etc.)

  • Demonstration Features

  • Math and Graphic Utility Features

  • Log, Alert, Trigger, and Schedule Features

  • Data and Account Management and Security

  • Data Management

  • HW and SW Gateway Devices/Apps/Modules/Libraries to help with partial and non-compliant Devices/Apps

  • Hardware (HW) Libraries (e.g. Optical, Audio in/out, Network (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RS422, RS232, RJ11, Contact switches), Sensors (temperature, motion, O2, Smoke, CO2), Power (battery Backup, AC/DC conversion), etc.)

  • High Availability Power, Network, and System Features
